Pioneer Ernest Mason (WR/42214)

Ernest Mason was born in 1876 at Westbury on Severn and he was the son of Benjamin and Malinda Mason of Brierley. He married Fanny Kear in 1897 and they had seven children (four sons and three daughters). In 1911 they were living at Brierley and his occupation was quarryman.

Ernest died on 26 July 1919, aged 43 years, at the Military Hospital, Southmead (Bristol).

He had served overseas and was entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal.

His grave is marked by a CWGC headstone.

Fanny Mason remarried in 1921 to a Nathan J Griffin who was an ex-serviceman and had served in the Gloucestershire Regiment and Army Service Corps.
